Set Up Seedly Tasks

Prepare the source package, deploy your instance, and verify it with sample work.

Your Seedly Tasks download contains the source code, SETUP-GUIDE.md, and a step-by-step docs/ handbook. Use those files for exact commands and current environment variables. This page gives you the order of work and the checks to perform before a real team uses the app.

Before you start

A development computer with the Node.js and npm versions required by the package.
A Git repository, hosting account, PostgreSQL database, and domain you control.
Your own Google OAuth, Stripe, and email credentials if you enable those features.

Hosting and connected services are separate from the Seedly source license. The package does not include the seller's database, users, payment account, or provider credentials.

Set up in three stages

Run locally. Follow SETUP-GUIDE.md and the package's docs/01-prerequisites.md. Install dependencies, create your local configuration, and start the client and server.
Deploy your instance. Follow the package's GitHub, Railway, domain, and provider chapters. Use your own accounts and check each required setting before turning on external access.
Verify with sample work. Sign in as an admin, create a sample client and project, add tasks, record a short time entry, and open the client preview. Remove the sample records before onboarding a real client.

Before inviting a real team

Confirm that the domain uses HTTPS, sign-in works, users only see their permitted projects, notification emails come from your domain, and backup and restore steps are documented. Test a client view with a disposable account before sharing a real project.
